Now that the year is coming to a close, I feel the need for a year-end post on the 2009 highlights in my life. It has been a crazy roller-coaster ride, just as most years are wont to be. But these are the somewhat specifics that made 2009 what it was.
Somehow the first half of [...]

Like an extended wedding reception, Tere and Eric treated us to dinner at Hap Chan in Mackinley Hill(s?) on December 23. The celebration also doubled as the we screw Christmas get-together.
First, the ever-present group table pictures…
And then come the gift series….
Nuni and the phallic trophy…
Some behind-the-scene shots…
And then we transferred to Starbucks for some coffee [...]

While it is still true that there is nothing I can think of that I really need at the moment, I decided it can’t be possible that there is absolutely nothing I want. Finally, I came up with a few things I, um, wouldn’t mind having…
Any wish list of mine is not really complete without [...]

The Christmas week is fun, fun, fun! And I am especially thankful for my…
– gifts, gifts, gifts galore!
I had so many! Whee!! So many many many!! And we haven’t even included the ones I bought for myself yet.
– vacation, vacation, vacation!
Thus I was able to sleep, sleep, sleep! And read, read, read! Finally finished the [...]

Now that the Christmas break is upon me, I thought I’d list down things I should “accomplish” while on holiday. Ok, plan to accomplish… If anything, this is a way to organize my thoughts. I seem to remember stuff that I needed done at random moments and I thought it might be helpful to devote [...]

When I announced that I was wearing my short pink knitted skirt on Facebook, I had no idea it would generate quite a number of comments. But it did. Apparently, “short” and “skirt” are quite interesting when used in the same sentence. *flattered, flattered Nuni
So here are the pictures I promised to post. Thanks to [...]

– finishing the second draft!
By far the ultimate thank-you I have in the past week was finally being able to send my manuscript to Doc Bau. What the feedback would be is an entirely different matter though. Still, one step closer to finishing the novel and graduating.
A close second is:
– Christmas dinner with Lit friends!
It’s [...]

Annette is home and the Lit people made a mad dash to have Christmas dinner with her. We went to Brasserie Boheme at Picasso Serviced Residences in Makati. Food was yummy and reasonably-priced (at least for now), but the staff were still undergoing training. Fair warning: Don’t go if you’re not the patient type.
Super thanks [...]

Finally.
A week or several years too late, depending on when one starts counting, I sent Doc Bau the second draft of the novel this afternoon.
Now we wait.
Might get a massage while waiting.
Will try to keep the acid level on my tummy down. But no promises.
Has to sort out my MFA status, too. Just in case [...]

– yoga
After three weeks without, my body definitely needed it. And my mind too, now that I think about it.
– hot oil and foot spa
In my old age, I have learned to be nicer to myself. So now I only feel a very mild tinge of guilt when I pamper myself. That can be remedied [...]
