– the 10 pages (of the 50 I need to write) of THE essay I finished writing on Sunday
– finally being officially enrolled
– ha! no refresher classes!
– finishing two (of the eight) books on the present reading list (there are so many lists now I can hardly keep track)
– Kaeskwela’s fiction writing workshop going well (more on that soon)

Joni:
- Is a writer struggling to finish her first novel, which is incidentally also her thesis for an MFA in Creative Writing (been working on it for years, actually). Optimistically thinks it will get written. Eventually.
- Vows to become an expert on anything China-related in the meantime. Relearns Mandarin. Devours anything written about China, from books to documentary films to music. Haven’t conquered movies yet.
- Constantly worries she’s not doing enough. Wishes she has more time to read fiction.
