It has been an uneventful week, which is something to be grateful for in itself. Also, I am thankful for:
– the time (uh, me having made the time) for my Mandarin lessons, both in and out of class.
– Plus! Yummy dinner care of generous classmates last Friday (beef and mushroom from Vince, crabs from Gladys, rice from Nino and Heidi).
– Sweet and smart 4th-graders at Pembo for HandsOn Manila’s Galing Mo Kid project
– Ukay shopping spree on Saturday night

About The Author
Joni:
- Is a writer struggling to finish her first novel, which is incidentally also her thesis for an MFA in Creative Writing (been working on it for years, actually). Optimistically thinks it will get written. Eventually.
- Vows to become an expert on anything China-related in the meantime. Relearns Mandarin. Devours anything written about China, from books to documentary films to music. Haven’t conquered movies yet.
- Constantly worries she’s not doing enough. Wishes she has more time to read fiction.
